MEAD, Colo. (KKTV) - A busy interstate is experiencing delays due to a crash involving two semi-trucks on Thursday, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

The crash occurred on I-25 just north of Mead.

Troopers reportedly responded to the crash at 3:16 a.m. A Freightliner carrying office supplies was driving southbound on I-25 near milepost 247.

Troopers say the Freightliner traveled to the right side of the road, hitting a jersey barrier, then traveled to the left side of the road, hitting the median jersey barrier.

The Freightliner continued to travel into the northbound lane, hitting another semi-truck carrying gasoline. The Freightliner then continued to travel northbound and rolled over onto its side, blocking both northbound and southbound lanes, troopers say.

One driver reported minor injuries.

The interstate is closed in both directions, from northbound Exit 243 to southbound Exit 250. The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and the CSP Hazmat Unit are on site assisting with cleanup.

Troopers say 100 to 200 vehicles were stuck in the queue. It took at least one hour to clear the vehicles.

It is unknown when the roadway will reopen.
