Gov. Jim Pillen signs 340 Contract Pharmacy Protection Act into law
Nebraska hospital leaders are concerned that President Donald Trump's tariffs are going to hike up prescription prices.
They said half of their generic pharmaceuticals come from India.
They were gathered today as Gov. Jim Pillen signed LB 168 or the 340 Contract Pharmacy Protection Act into law.
The legislation introduced by Sen. Brian Hardin is aimed at protecting the savings provided through the program.
It's to benefit Nebraskans served by hospitals and other eligible health care organizations.
Pillen said the program has been around for 35 years and is an essential piece for hospital success in Nebraska.
"Let's just call it the way it is. When you're doing something and Big Pharma's upset with you, I think it's a good sign we're doing good work," said Pillen.
He also said it's important to protect the life blood of where we live.
