Donald Trump finalising deal to bring DP World Tour event to Scots golf venue

ONE of Donald Trump's Scottish golf courses is set to become a host venue for a DP World Tour event later this year.
The controversial US president has a number of golf properties on his portfolio, both in America and Scotland.
Trump National Doral in Miami, Florida is welcoming the LIV Golf League to its fairways this week, and the 78-year-old has made no secret of wanting his courses to stage more top events.
And the cancellation of an event on the DP World Tour has opened the door for Trump to have a facility of his own used by the circuit.
The DP World Tour lost the D+D Real Czech Masters from its 2025 calendar when the promoter, Relmost, failed to secure a venue in the Czech Republic.
That event usually falls in August and carries a purse of $2.5million (£1.93m).

This year its slot is taken by an unnamed 'European event' that will take place from August 7-10.
That will put it three weeks after The Open Championship, hosted at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland this year, and a month after the Scottish Open which will once again be held at the Renaissance Club in North Berwick.
And filling the void will be Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeen.
The venue, which is opening a second course this year, is situated among the sand dunes on the Menie Estate and has a reputation as one of the best links courses in the UK.

It has been ranked at number 34 in Golf Digest’s World’s 100 Greatest Courses list.
The DP World Tour remains tight-lipped on confirming the news at this stage.
A statement read: "Any updates to our 2025 global schedule will be announced in due course."
Trump International Golf Links previously hosted the PGA Seniors Championship, run by the European Seniors Tour.
The main course stretches to 7,428 yards and plays to a par of 72.
It is not clear whether Trump International Golf Links is able to keep the event or if this is a one-off and the Czech Masters returns in its place.
When announcing they were cancelling the 2025 Czech Masters, promoters Relmost suggested they will be back next year.
A statement from the firm read: "We have not agreed with any course that meets the requirements for hosting the DP World Tour. We cannot compromise on quality. This is essential for us and our partners to organise the tournament.
"Now there will be more time to search and negotiate so that we can come back stronger in 2026."
The news comes as Trump's other venue, Turnberry, was forced to delay the reopening of its Ailsa course due to vandalism.

The Ailsa had several holes redesigned over the winter but was still scheduled to open on May 1.
But a recent attack by vandals has left the course and the clubhouse needing repairs and as a result, a star-studded Pro-Am event due to be held at the venue has been cancelled.
