Traveling between Serbia and Greece is set to become more seamless with introducing a new toll payment app, ” Toll 4 All ” launched by Serbia’s national road company, Putevi Srbije.
The app, already embraced by 100,000 users in Serbia, enables faster electronic toll payments, reducing queues and wait times at toll stations. It is poised to expand to drivers from Greece, Croatia, Montenegro, and North Macedonia.
Darko Savić, Executive Director of the Toll Collection Sector at Putevi Srbije, announced on Serbian national television that the app will roll out in Croatia by late April. He added that Serbia is eager to collaborate with Greece, offering a ready-made solution to integrate their toll systems. “This will simplify travel for Serbian tourists and Western Europeans driving through Serbia to Greece, eliminating the need to stop at toll booths,” Savić said.
The initiative allows drivers to use a single transceiver for tolls across multiple countries, enhancing convenience for the 900,000+ users of Serbia’s electronic toll system and potentially those in neighboring nations like Greece. This aligns with the European Electronic Toll Service Directive 2019/520, promoting a unified toll framework across EU countries.
In 2024, former Greek Transport Minister Christos Staikouras and Serbian counterpart Goran Vesić met to explore this collaboration, initiating a feasibility study to assess the technical, commercial, and legal groundwork for a shared toll system. The “Toll4All” app promises to make cross-border road trips smoother and more efficient for travelers heading to Greek destinations.
