Do you have a strong Rhode Island accent?

We want to hear it.

For an upcoming story, The Providence Journal is putting together a compilation of notable local accents.

If you'd like to participate, please call 401-277-7303 and leave a message with the following information:

  • That you're calling for the Rhode Island accent story
  • Your full name (first and last names) and age
  • What part of Rhode Island you're from
  • Whereabouts in Rhode Island you live now, if different

In the message, please record yourself saying the following the phrases:

  • "Be careful, I don’t want the neighbors to call the fire department"
  • "I never use a shopping cart when I go to the market for coffee"
  • "Law enforcement was in the area"

The recording may be published online in conjunction with a forthcoming story on the Rhode Island accent.
