MINSK, April 2. /TASS/. The total volume of exchange transactions between Belarusian and Russian market participants in the Q1 of 2025 reached $232.5 mln, marking a 17% increase compared to the same period in 2024, according to the press service of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE).
"This year, agricultural products dominate the structure of Belarus-Russia exchange trade, accounting for 77% of total turnover. Russian companies primarily purchase meat products, dry milk, butter, cheese, and feed additives at the exchange," Belarus Segodnya quoted a representative of BUCE Roman Yaniv as saying. "Belarusian participants, in turn, show the highest demand for grain, plant protection products, veterinary drugs, and food raw materials," he added. The total transaction volume in this segment grew by 35% compared to Q1 2024.
Russia remains not only the largest trading partner on BUCE but also the main destination for Belarusian exchange exports. According to BUCE, Belarusian exports to Russia increased by 41% year-on-year in value terms, reaching $201.4 mln from January to March.
Beyond agricultural products, metallurgical and woodworking materials, construction supplies, lubricants, polymer products, and a wide range of industrial and consumer goods demonstrated high liquidity in Q1 exchange trading. Notably, exports of Belarusian aerated concrete blocks to Russia rose by 26%, ferrous and non-ferrous metal scrap - by 12%, and industrial products - by 3%. Meanwhile, Russian enterprises expanded their exchange sales of polymers and polymer packaging by 63%, ferroalloys - by 22%, and rolled ferrous metal products - by 6%.
As of April 2, 2025, a total of 4,453 Russian resident companies are accredited on BUCE, with business representatives from 53 Russian regions and seven exchange brokers actively participating. In 2024, Belarus-Russia exchange trade turnover exceeded $1 bln, representing a 3.4-fold increase from 2023.
